2018 Annual Research Conference

 

Join us in Cleveland, OH for the 42nd Annual Research Conference. The theme for the 2018 conference is "The Future of Nursing Research: Economic Realities and Creative Solutions". The objectives for the conference are:

  • Identify strategies that engage stakeholders to advance nursing research and the preparation of nurse scientists
  • Discuss emerging realities and challenges in nursing research across environments
  • Examine creative solutions for sustaining nursing research

Keynote Speakers for the Conference

MNRS is pleased to announce the Keynote Speakers for the 42nd Annual Research Conference: 

Dr. Melanie Dreher will present at the Opening Keynote Session on Friday, April 13th.

Dr. Mary Kerr, Dean of the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, will present at the Closing Keynote Session on Sunday, April 15th.


Call for Abstracts:

We have moved to a new Abstract Collection Site for 2018. Please click here for the site. Click "Join Now" to create a login, then proceed to submit your abstract. You may change your temporary Access Key in the "Your Profile" tab. Abstracts should only be uploaded once by the presenting author. Please check the dates that each submission type is accepting abstracts. 

Only MNRS Members are eligible to submit an abstract. The primary author of all abstracts must be an MNRS member.

NEW THIS YEAR: Each author within your abstract must submit a Disclosure Form before your abstract may be submitted. Details available in the "Author" tab on the abstract submission site.


Guaranteed Symposia Abstracts - The abstract collection site is now CLOSED. Submitters will be notified after the review process is completed.

A symposium is comprised of 4 - 5 paper presentations on a single topic selected by each RIG Chair. Guaranteed Symposia abstracts are selected by the RIG Chair.  The abstracts may describe completed research or research in progress, with a discussion of methodological considerations, a synthesis of related literature or other research topics of relevance. Abstracts must include: Purpose, theoretical/conceptual framework, sample, methods and results and conclusions, as applicable. Please contact your RIG Chair for the topic for your RIG before submitting.

Accepted Symposium authors will be contacted by MNRS Staff by the end of September.

If your abstract is accepted for a Symposia, none of the abstracts included in the Symposium are eligible for the General Call for Abstracts.

  • The RIG chair will select the 4 - 5 submitted abstracts for their RIG's Symposia and submit to the PPC for approval
  • Each Symposium Author will be notified in late August if your abstract is not selected. At that time, you may submit your abstract to the General Call for Abstracts (August 14 - September 15)

Competitive Symposia Abstracts - The abstract collection site is now CLOSED. Submitters will be notified after the review process is completed.
The site will be open from June 26 - July 21, 2017.

A symposium is comprised of 4 - 5 paper presentations on a single topic selected by each RIG Chair. Competitive Symposia abstracts are peer-reviewed by the MNRS Program Planning Committee (PPC). The abstracts may describe completed research or research in progress, with a discussion of methodological considerations, a synthesis of related literature or other research topics of relevance. Abstracts must include: Purpose, theoretical/conceptual framework, sample, methods and results and conclusions, as applicable. Please contact your RIG Chair for the topic for your RIG before submitting.

  • The RIG chair will select the 4 - 5 submitted abstracts for their RIG's Symposia and submit to the PPC for secondary review. The PPC will select the best RIG Symposia submissions for the annual conference.
  • Each Primary Author will be notified in late August if your abstract is not selected. At that time, you may submit your abstract to the General Call for Abstracts (August 14 - September 15)

Pre-Conference WorkshopsThe abstract collection site is now CLOSED. Submitters will be notified after the review process is completed.
The site will be open from June 26 - July 28, 2017.

Pre-Conference Workshops take place on Thursday, April 12, 2018. Half-day workshops are allotted 3.5 hours and are presented in two sections with one 15-minute break. Full day workshops are allotted 7 hours and are presented in 4 sections with two 15-minute breaks and a break for lunch. Only 1 submission per group will be accepted. Please submit your abstract to the new online abstract collection site (CadmiumCD).


Special Sessions - The abstract collection site is now CLOSED. Submitters will be notified after the review process is completed.
The site will be open from June 26 - July 28, 2017.

Special sessions are 90 minutes and are slotted in the program at the discretion of the MNRS Program Planning Committee. Only 1 submission per group will be accepted.

Competitive Abstracts - The abstract collection site is now OPEN through September 15, 2017. 

Research & Evidence-Based Practice Abstracts may be submitted for all 19 RIGs. A list of MNRS RIGs is located here.

Abstract Guidelines
The body of the abstract (see abstract submission guidelines for required elements) may not exceed 350 words. Abstract titles should be short but descriptive in addressing the key concepts of the proposed presentation. Only the primary/submitting author will receive an email message confirming the receipt of the abstract and is responsible for notifying co-authors of receipt confirmation.

  • Online submission site opens: Monday, August 14, 2017
  • Abstract submission deadline: Friday, September 15, 2017
  • Abstract submissions are peer-reviewed
  • Confirmation emails of accepted papers & posters in mid-December 2017
