MNRS Colleagues:
We all know too well how difficult it is to get funding to support pilot work! We are turning down numbers of qualified applications for our research grants every year.
You will notice on your renewal form a request to give $1 per week ($50 – two weeks vacation) to the MNRS FOUNDATION to support additional research grants. All of the funds donated will be devoted to the Dissertation grants and Seed grants.
As I mentioned at the 2008 business meeting, this represents less of an expense than a cup of coffee. And, if all of our members give, we could fund at least 5 new Seed grants AND 3 new Dissertation grants!
Of course, if you can afford to give more than the $1 per week, we will use the funds to award even more new grants.
Please use this easy way to support our research grants, and of course, your donation is tax deductible.

MNRS FUNdraiser Talent Show
The trophy, a musical roller coaster named Tornado symbolized experiences in research through the name, the ups and downs of the path, the group in each car (no solo activity), the need for a push or assist in climbing to the top, and the fact that you can change the tune (when you need to resubmit). The University of Minnesota had the most dollar votes and will be displaying this trophy for the next year. The University of Illinois-Chicago and the University of Nebraska received second and third places. How much did we raise? Voting raised $2614.
220 were sold. Sage donated $10,000 to help pay the expenses of the evening. The bottom line will not be known until the expenses of the event have been processed, but will be reported in the next issue. It’s not too early to plan acts for next year!
