MNRS Foundation Silent Auction

Third Annual Silent Auction
A record number of items were donated – 223! The Local Arrangements Committee, Drs. Ruth Lindquist, Linda Chlan, and Linda Herrick worked very hard to solicit items, challenging themselves to increase the number of items over the last year’s Auction. The earnings from this event will be calculated and reported in the next issue.

The Geocaching events, led by Dr Madeleine Kerr and Lynn Choromanski, raised $200, and those who joined learned about a new activity (treasure hunting with GPS), had fun, learned about Minneapolis, and got some exercise.

If you missed any of these events, make sure you do not miss these opportunities for therapeutic laughter, fun exercise, and wonderful shopping at the 2010 Conference in Kansas City. A big THANK YOU to all who made these events a great success!

2010 Silent Auction

Our 2010 Conference in Kansas City will include our Fourth Annual Silent Auction to raise funds for MNRS research grants. (ALL of the funds raised in the Auction go directly to research grants). We hope each of you will contribute an item, and be purchasers at the Auction. With a ticket to the FUNdraiser, you will get the first shot at the Auction items when it opens at 7 PM.

The Host Schools are stepping up to the challenge to make this year’s Auction even bigger and better than last year, but they need contributions from everyone. Last year, jewelry, antiques, scarves, and art objects were very popular items. An unique item from last year is featured on the website – take a look!

See the donation form on the website for how to contribute items. Submit the form to the MNRS office so that your item can be included in the Auction Catalog. If you can’t use either of these methods, you can bring the item with you to the conference, but it is difficult for the staff to handle many items at the last minute.

Please submit an item for the Silent Auction, and come prepared to BUY!

Now, take a look at the fun resulting from a unique Auction item from last year! Madeleine J. Kerr, PhD, RN, Associate Professor and Karen A. Monsen, PhD, RN, Assistant Professor, University of Minnesota submitted this exciting item, a "Minnesota Paddle on the St. Croix". They provided the Voyager canoes and a gourmet lunch. See if you can pick them out, and the purchaser, Connie White Delaney, PhD, RN, FAAN, FACMI, Professor and Dean, and her colleagues, Bonnie Westra, PhD, RN, Assistant Professor; Linda L. Halcon, PhD, MPH, RN, Associate Professor; and Julie A. Jacko, PhD, Professor, all from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, along with friends and family.

They all had a great time, and raised funds for our grants program!
